Fire Pit Installation Service in South Shore, MA

Adding a fire pit to your backyard is a great way to enhance your outdoor living experience. A fire pit provides warmth on chilly nights, creates a cozy atmosphere, and is the perfect spot to gather with friends and family for some s’mores and stargazing. However, installing a fire pit comes with certain precautions and safety measures that must be taken into consideration. Prevail Construction knows firepits and ensures that each project is expertly constructed. We work with our customers to make sure the following criteria are met.

Choosing a Safe Location for Your Fire Pit

Before installing a fire pit, the right location should be chosen –  a flat, level surface that is at least 10 feet away from any structure, combustible materials, or overhanging trees. The location should also have good drainage and be far enough from any objects that could be damaged by the heat.

Selecting the Right Fire Pit

There are a variety of fire pit options available, such as wood-burning, propane, and natural gas. We will offer guidance in choosing one that suits your needs, while also meeting local regulations. We suggest checking with your municipality to see if there are any restrictions on fire pits, such as burning bans on certain days.

Preparing the Area

Now that you’ve selected the right fire pit and location, it’s time to prepare the area. We begin your project by digging a hole that is about six inches deep and fill it with gravel or sand to help with drainage. We also suggest placing a barrier, such as bricks or pavers, around the fire pit to contain any stray embers.

At Prevail Construction, we create beautiful outdoor spaces, including fire pits

Installing the Fire Pit

If you’ve opted for a wood-burning fire pit, we will create the base using concrete blocks or metal fire pit rings. For propane and natural gas fire pits, we will connect the appropriate gas line or propane tank before lighting the fire. Always use a lighter or long match to ignite the fire, and never use gasoline, lighter fluid, or any other flammable liquid.

Safety Comes First

When using your fire pit, always keep a fire extinguisher or garden hose nearby in case of an emergency. Avoid wearing loose-fitting clothing, and keep pets and small children away from the fire. When you’re done with the fire, make sure to extinguish it completely before leaving the area.
